:: The Philanthropic Side of Me ::

Filed under: Uncategorized — dyan @ 11:30 pm

My Wednesday mornings are usually spent in dream land since my first class starts at 1PM. Sleeping? No wonder a lot of my acquaintances noticed that I’m starting to gain some muscles (or flabs!).

Anyway, this Wednesday was an exemption. I met up with Farley at McDonald’s North Avenue at around 9. We attended the meeting set by Edra, my co-participant in the Young Professional’s Workshop I joined a couple of weeks ago. The meeting took place at the TAO (Technical Assistance Organization) – Pilipinas office situated in Pinyahan, Q.C.

The emails I sent which I thought were immediately deleted by the receivers in fact touched a soul. I’m so relieved that at least I was able to influence at least one person. Although Farley’s not (yet!) committed to the organization I’m sort of affiliated with, I’m happy that at least he’s interested with our charitable endeavor for the informal settlers of Samahan ng Nagkakaisang Mamamayan ng Navotas (SANAGMANA).

Matters discussed in the meeting included the schedule of the site visit, the three workshops we are going to facilitate plus the division of labor. At the moment, we are three in the group (four if Farley decides to join us ;p), me, Edra (Archi Graduate – UP Diliman) and Beezee ( 5th Year CE – UST). Two TAO representatives will also assist us during the activity.

Because of my Saturday classes, I won’t be able to attend this Saturday’s site visit. I’ll instead help out on Sunday during the workshop proper.

We are expecting a maximum of 82 residents on Sunday. The thought of orienting such a large number of people scares me since this would be my first time to engage in such activity. I hope my nerves won’t interfere with my performance though.

I already have the documentation of YP’s General Orientation Workshop on Social Housing. I’ll try to post some pics perhaps tomorrow or on Friday.

PS

I’m not suffering from senile dementia but I think I lost the Bluetooth adapter I borrowed yesterday from one of my classmates. I’m positive that it’s with me after I left CC. Must have dropped it on my way home. Bull poo. I have to replace it then. Oh no I’m broke. :(
